What Are They?
A stand-up pouch bag, also known as stand bags, are made of multiple layers of barrier film that are laminated together in order to create one continuous sheet. In general, these bags are made of 2-3 layers, an outer layer, a middle layer, and an inner layer that play a role in the water-proof and airtight features of the bag. These layers each have the purpose of protecting the bags contents from various elements such as moisture, UV light, oxygen, and external odors. To facilitate its use to customers, these bags generally have a tear notch. That is a small slit in the end seal of the bag that allows customers to easily tear the sealed film in order to access its contents. Lastly, stand up bags are able to freely stand on its own due to its expandable bottom gusset. The outer layer
The outer layer is usually made with either paper or plastic (polyethylene), generally resistant to puncture and tear.
