With its outstanding and highly regarded universities, Canada has traditionally been one of the international students' most popular study destinations. Many Canadian universities are well-known worldwide, and many students want to study there.

University Rankings in Canada


According to widely regarded rating systems such as QS, Times Higher Education, and Shanghai University, more than 30 Canadian institutions are among the top 300 universities in the World. Each of these rankings looks at different aspects and assigns a ranking to institutions based on globally accepted criteria.


The high global ranking of Canadian universities reflects the country's excellent higher education system. The rating of Canadian universities is such that many of them are consistently included in lists of the World's best institutions. According to the most recent QS rankings, 26 Canadian institutions are among the best in the World.

In addition to well-known Canadian universities such as the University of Toronto and the University of Montreal, Canada has some lesser-known universities that also have high academic credentials.

 One of these universities is the University of Guelph. The University of Guelph is ranked 483 in Best Global Universities. The Memorial University of Newfoundland is another example that is in the top 700 in the World. And finally, we have the Dalhousie University, which is among the top 15 Canadian universities.

 the University of Guelph, Canada's most innovative university

In Guelph, Ontario, Canada, the University of Guelph is a comprehensive public research university. It was founded in 1964 as a result of the merger of Ontario Agricultural College (1874), MacDonald Institute (1903), and Ontario Veterinary College (1922), and has since expanded to about 30,000 students and 830 full-time teachers. It provides 94 undergraduate degrees, 48 graduate programs, and six associate degrees in various areas.

Memorial University of Newfoundland, vibrant and innovative


Memorial University of Newfoundland, usually known as Memorial University or MUN , is a public university centred in St. John's, Newfoundland , with satellite campuses in Corner Brook, other parts of the province, Saint Pierre, and Harlow, England. Memorial University provides online courses and degrees and certificates, diploma, undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs.


Memorial University was founded in September 1925 as a living memorial to Newfoundlanders and Labradorians who died in the First World War. It is the largest university in Atlantic Canada and the only university in Newfoundland and Labrador. There were 1,330 teachers and 2,474 employees serving 19,000 students from approximately 100 countries as of 2018.

More than 19,000 students from more than 115 countries attend Memorial University to learn. Memorial University provides certificate, diploma, undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate degrees on five sites and online, ranging from the classics to advanced techniques. Memorial University's capability and reputation for leadership in research, teaching, and public engagement are bolstered by a global network of almost 100,000 successful alumni.

Memorial has over 30 research institutes and earned more than $130 million in research funding in 2019-20, making it one of Canada's top 20 research institutions. In addition, Memorial and its financial partners have invested in more than 1,500 graduate scholarships and 854 Ph.D. students.

64 Memorial researchers were named to the World's Top 2% Scientists list in 2020.

Ocean research accounts for more than 40% of Memorial's research. If there's research going on in the North Atlantic, Memorial University is almost certainly participating. Memorial is a partner of the Ocean Frontier Institute, a $220 million collaborative research endeavour focused at unlocking the ocean's tremendous potential. Memorial is also a member of Canada's Ocean Supercluster; a private-sector-led initiative focused on increasing sustainable economic growth from our oceans via innovation and commercialization.


Dalhousie University, one of Canada's oldest universities

Dalhousie University (referred to simply as Dal) is a public research university in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, with three campuses and medical teaching facilities in Saint John, New Brunswick. Dalhousie University's twelve undergraduate, graduate, and professional colleges provide over 4,000 courses and 180 degree programs.

The university is a member of the U15, a group of Canadian research-intensive universities.It is one of Canada's oldest universities, with over 19,000 students; 22 percent of them are international students from all over the World. On Canada's East Coast, Dalhousie University creates a lasting effect by combining innovative academic programs with groundbreaking research.

Dalhousie University attracts students from Canada, and the World, with over 115 nations represented. The university has four campuses: three downtown Halifax (Studley, Sexton, and Carleton), as well as an agricultural campus. In 2017, it had 999 professors, with 92 percent holding a Ph.D.
